Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks is hiring a GS-12
ecologist-science coordinator to coordinate research and
planning on major research initiatives related to climate change
vulnerability, adaptation, and mitigation; drought impacts on
forests, aquatic systems, and implications for sustainable
development; wildfire; tribal co-stewardship and more. The
successful candidate will work directly for the Chief of
Resources Management and Science (Christy Brigham) and will work
with amazing collaborators at USGS, UC Berkeley, UC Santa
Barbara, UCLA, USFS, Colorado State University and more. We have
a great diverse group of scientists working on applied problems
in managing ecosystems being heavily impacted by a rapidly
changing climate. Project work includes research coordination,
development of more partnerships and research initiatives,
applying for grants, administration of over 10 million dollars
of research funding that has already been obligated to key
research partners, helping craft with our tribal partners a
tribal costewardship plan, playing a key role in the parks
Climate Change Task Force, writing the park's climate change
adaptation and mitigation plan (which will be based in our
already completed Resource Stewardship Strategy and an updated
Green Parks Plan) and helping to shape both our Fire and Fuels
Management Plan and Visitor Use Management Plan.</div>
