I am no longer QSB chair and only helping with this because we are still in transition with Kara's incoming appointment. </div><div><br></div><div>Please be mindful that your nominating paragraph will be used by Kara to choose two nominees AND by the award committee AND Marjorie. Please write it in an appropriate format for these three reviews. <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt">With apologies for the quick turn around and doing this in summer and knowing that two graduate groups don’t have new chairs yet, we have a new fellowship—the Central Valley Graduate Fellowship—which will
provide a one-semester fellowship for a graduate student from the Central Valley who is doing research relevant to the Central Valley. We can give out one fellowship for fall and one for spring. I am anxious to do this right away because we want to try to
get additional donations to this fund from individuals and foundations, and that requires being able to show off who the first couple of recipients are. Hence the urgency. Please nominate up to two students by July 29—see attached for details, but basically
they must have advanced to candidacy, be from the Central Valley and be doing work that benefits the Valley. Thanks for helping me in my efforts to get more funding for our students!<br>
