<div dir="ltr">Dear QSB members,<div><br></div><div>Thank you so much for sending in annual evaluations. Nearly every student (>90%) is accounted for. While there are hopefully direct benefits of this effort including increased interactions between students and committees, and clear communication about expectations and goals, there are also indirect benefits of these efforts. By doing this as asked to by the Dean of Graduate Studies, we show her that we care about our program and are willing to put our best foot forward as she negotiates for greater resources to build grad programs. </div><div><br></div><div>And happily resources for our program are increasing. We were allocated 17% more in operational funds this year than last year. In 2017-2018, these funds enabled us to hold seminars, a retreat, and purchase more disk space on the cluster for QSB users. In our first QSB general meeting, we will discuss priorities for allocating these additional funds to ensure the continued growth in size, quality and success of QSB.</div><div><div><br></div>-- <br><div class="gmail_signature" data-smartmail="gmail_signature"><div dir="ltr"><div><div dir="ltr">Miriam Barlow </div><div dir="ltr">Founding Faculty and Professor<div>Chair, Quantitative and Systems Biology</div><div>University of California, Merced</div><div><br></div><div>209.228.4174</div><div><a href="mailto:miriam.barlow@gmail.com" target="_blank">miriam.barlow@gmail.com</a></div><div><br></div></div></div></div></div>
