<div dir="ltr">Dear Students,<div>The Chem Exam is rapidly approaching.  It will be this Thursday from noon until 5:00 PM in the Half Dome Room (SSM 317).  </div><div><br></div><div>You can show up anytime before 3:00 PM.  </div><div>If you would like to take both Gen Chem and Organic Chem Exams, please show up around noon because both Exams take 2 hrs each.</div><div><br></div><div>This will be a timed test.</div><div><br></div><div>You must bring the following:</div><div>A calculator that has no camera associated with it (No cell phone calculators)</div><div><br clear="all"><div>A #2 pencil to fill out the scantron sheets</div><div><br></div><div>To pass the exam, you must score in the 50th percentile or higher.  This scoring system is developed by the ACS on national tests results.</div><div><br></div><div>Once you have passed the exam you need not retake it in future years.  You will remain qualified to TA chem.</div><div><br></div><div>If there are study guides remaining at the front desk in SE1 270, you should check them out and study for the exam.</div><div><br></div><div>We may be short on TAships by ~30.  There is a very real probability of many students going unfunded next year.  Passing the Chem exam greatly increases your ability to obtain TAship funding.  </div><div><br></div>-- <br><div class="gmail_signature" data-smartmail="gmail_signature"><div dir="ltr">Miriam Barlow<div>Associate Professor</div><div>University of California, Merced</div><div><br></div><div>209.228.4174</div><div><a href="mailto:miriam.barlow@gmail.com" target="_blank">miriam.barlow@gmail.com</a></div><div><br></div></div></div>
