DESCRIPTION;LANGUAGE=en-US:Updating our agenda for our May 14 meeting (comi
ng up shortly):\n\n• Preparing for E3 meeting: What questions do we have
for them? (Interesting for us to think about what actions we will take i
f they say that they aren’t addressing any of these items) The meeting w
ith E3 has been moved to Wed May 19 at 4 pm\n• Reviewing authorship guid
elines – do we all agree on what contributions merit authorship and what
contributions merit some other acknowledgment?\n• Review list of papers
we are developing\n• Review upcoming deliverables\n\nI think this will
be a good time for a high-level discussion about our directions and hope y
ou’ll be able to come and bring your thoughts. My goal is that each stud
ent has at least one first-author paper in the works and I expect that eac
h of you will also have a couple of other papers you will be coauthors on.
\n\nHere is a list of questions for E3 that Pedro and I put together as a
starting point. We may not have time to ask E3 all of these questions –
I expect that they will start with a presentation.\n\nMay 14 meeting: Prep
aration for meeting with E3 – May 19th meeting\n\nTimepoints strategies
–\n• Can we select the number of timepoints per day?\n• Can we selec
t which hours?\n• Can we select which days?\n• Can we select a variabl
e number of timepoints per day?\n• Can we easily run the simulation in a
two-step mode doing the capacity expansion with large time step and dispa
tch with smaller time step?\n• Will they provide full 8760 data? (shapes
and load data – also hydro\, and other things)\n• Will they provide f
ull 8760 data for more than one year?\n• If so\, can we select which yea
r?\n• Are they considering weather (shapes/loads) projections for the fu
ture?\n\nHydrogen –\n• Can we optimize the electrolysis?\n• Can we b
uild electrolyzers?\n• Do they allow for $/kg value of hydrogen generati
on? Currently if I run an electrolyzer that eats up electricity and incurs
cost\, but I don’t think there’s any value associated with that hydro
gen. Difference here is we need a curve that gives $/kg as a function of p
eriod and we need to be able to implement – which we can easily do by su
btracting from the operating costs. Would they allow negative numbers? E
lectrolyzer is a “load” not a generator.\n• Have they modeled hydrog
en storage as electricity-in-electricity-out.\n\nDemand management –\n
 • Have they added any new types of demand management? If so\, what?\nQu
estion for us? If they say “no” will we take action?\n\nCSP –\n• H
ave they modeled storage for a CSP plant?\n\nNew storage options –\n•
How many new storage options are they including?\nOur action: we should at
tempt to put together a model for each of the companies – that should st
art soon.\n• Have they added idle losses in the model? (Makes sense for
8760 modeling)\n• State of charge handling for partial year?\n\n\n\n
