Why study global health at the University of California, San Francisco?

The 11-month, full-time master's program offers:

  *   Training for global health service and leadership
  *   Ten weeks of global health fieldwork
  *   Interdisciplinary curriculum and world-renowned faculty

The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted how crucial global health training is to recognize and respond to both emerging and continuing health threats around the world. Master’s graduates from the UCSF Institute for Global Health Sciences (IGHS) are prepared for careers in research, policy, organizational leadership, academia, and program management and evaluation.

Conduct global health fieldwork

The capstone research project is the centerpiece of the Master of Science program. Students focus on a particular area of interest and apply rigorous scholarship to an active project in global health, either in the United States or with an international partner, during one quarter of the program.

Admissions are also open for the IGHS PhD program in Global Health Sciences, which admits a new student cohort every other year. Doctoral students receive fundamental training in research methodologies and one-on-one mentoring. The application deadline is December 1, 2020.
