The Lead PreHealth Program is a Health Leadership program focused on providing students with the key skills that make a great health leader.

As a PreMed or PreHealth student, you should aim to have at least three experiences on your resume, including clinical, underserved community, and leadership experiences. With this program, you will be able to interact with some of the state's health leaders as you learn more about the upcoming trends, strategies, and leadership theory for medicine. You will discuss with major health leaders about challenges in 21st century healthcare, underserved community engagement, medical institution management, and other exciting topics.

Students will need to submit a resume and a personal statement at https://studentleadership.ucmerced.edu/form/lead-pre-health<http://email.mail.joinhandshake.com/c/eJxNkNtugzAMhp8G7opyoBQuclF16gvsAZAbmyYrSVAO77_AummSJUuf_du_jWoc9WNsrRJMMM7YwAfJ-r7jnWDsMvLbeeKyF8Pt2vTMgV27r2C9AY_JwIs6HVxr1LLwgU36AVJOIC9nPS2IFy5R9H0dCO2qTM5bauS1EfcaKRckn1cCpJiM3bqiHUVN2BGW2rCE6GraG05bpJMhWLNp5H0NsZEfvBFDyW5OoVRRBQ5Smnd_FN8lR2iLqyXa8Rvq4HPdW-kw8nrhLwa3gX36you3c4b4pEw4H9LURhWfIaADX5_w32ib1STH06c2Iazt31fmw80hni2qn1XfWUV3IA> by October 28th, 2020 to be considered for the spring semester cohort. The Application Committee is seeking competitive applicants with a committed passion to serve as a future health leader. Junior and Senior applicants are strongly encouraged to apply to this program.

Once admitted into the program, students will be required to attend a fall semester virtual meet and greet to network with fellow cohort participants and program advisors. The program will begin on January 29th and end on April 30th. Students will be required to attend a Friday discussion with a guest speaker from 2:00 – 4:00pm and write a small reflection regarding their thoughts on the topic. Students will also be required to participate in an end of semester capstone suggesting solutions to real-world health problems seen in the San Joaquin Valley Region.

I encourage you to not wait until the deadline on this program, as spots are limited and applications will be reviewed on an ongoing basis before the deadline. If you are seeking out health experience, I highly suggest that you apply to this program.
