Message forwarded on behalf of CSU, Northridge's Master of Science in Athletic Training:

Dear students,

We hope that you are all doing well and continuing to adapt to these ever-changing times. Although these times have been difficult for many, we'd like to take this opportunity to announce a new program within the Department of Kinesiology. The new Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT) degree was approved in March 2020 and is scheduled to begin May 25, 2021.

Are you interested in a career in health care (medicine, physical therapy, chiropractic, etc.)? If so, please consider the MSAT degree at CSUN. If you are not familiar with athletic trainers, please continue reading as this may be the profession for you. The base cost of this professional health care degree is $25, 388.

"Athletic trainers (ATs) are highly qualified, multi-skilled health care professionals who render service or treatment, under the direction of or in collaboration with a physician, in accordance with their education, training and the state's statutes, rules and regulations. As a part of the health care team, services provided by athletic trainers include primary care, injury and illness prevention, wellness promotion and education, emergent care, examination and clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions. (https://www.nata.org/about/athletic-training)."

The MSAT degree will prepare students to successfully complete the national Board of Certification, Inc. examination and enter the field of athletic training. You can learn more about the profession of athletic training and CSUN's MSAT program at:

  *   https://www.nata.org/about/athletic-training.

In addition, our last informational session for the summer will be held August 24, 2020. More informational sessions will be available for the fall semester. All information will posted on the Athletic Training website- https://www.csun.edu/health-human-development/kinesiology/atms.
