Message forwarded on behalf of Memorial Hospital of Los Banos:

Hello,
Memorial Hospital Los Banos is currently hiring medical scribes.

This is a position that students can work while taking classes as the scheduling is rather flexible, however, it does require commitment.
Why Scribe?
Being a medical scribe is one of the best opportunities that someone can pursue if they are looking to go into the medical field in any capacity, whether it be Nursing, Physician’s Assistant, or becoming a Physician. The first-hand experience that you gain from being in the room with a physician in the Emergency Department and seeing the patient care take place is unparalleled. Not to mention that fact that college students are learning medical terminology and learning from multiple physicians and seeing the variety of treatment tactics and different forms of patient care. Overall, this position allows students to get a few steps ahead of someone else that is entering the same program.
Requirements
Here are some of the requirements of the position:
- Hospital prefers a more open availability in terms of scheduling (being able to work a variety of different shifts throughout the week)
- A minimum of a one year commitment (continuous one year, not just a summer position)
- Each scribe works 2-3 shifts per week (including weekends and holidays)
- Knowledge of human anatomy or human physiology is preferred (if you have taken the classes relating to these fields, that is ideal)
- Spanish language speakers preferred

How to Apply
There are several openings:
