Good afternoon!

Golden Valley Health Centers (GVHC) has four available Community HealthCorps (AmeriCorps) positions from September 2010-August 2011. This is an AMAZING opportunity for recent grads (or students graduating in the Fall) to get hands on experience in the medical and public health field. As an '09 UC Merced grad who was in the program this past year, I can't express what a wonderful experience it has been for me. I've been able to shadow and help a physician during homeless outreach, screen diabetic patient's eyes for retinopathy, plan and execute activities for campaigns, network with various providers and healthcare administrators and much more!

Some benefits include: a modest living stipend (~$1050/month), deference on federal student loans for the year, basic health insurance, a $4,725 educational award to be used for paying off loans or future schooling, and various trainings. 

 

Please help GVHC in finding interested individuals! I am more than happy to answer ANY questions from interested applicants or can direct them appropriate staff! Applicants MUST submit an application on-line at americorps.gov (they must search for "Central Valley Health Network").
