<p class="MsoNormal">Weichao Guo is a postdoc under Professor Roger Bales and Safeeq Khan at Mountain Hydrology Research Group, University of California, Merced. He earned his PhD in macroecology at Peking University in Beijing, China. He has a great interest
in the effects of various forest restoration treatments (e.g. control fire, mechanical thinning) on evapotranspiration and tree growth using both measurement and modelling.

<p class="MsoNormal">Currently, his research focuses on how Sierra Nevada forest respond to climate change through a detailed forest-water nexus simulation model, LPJ-GUESS. LPJ-GUESS is a process-based dynamic vegetation-terrestrial ecosystem model designed
for regional or global studies. He will present a work entitled Simulating water-carbon interactions in a Mediterranean mountain ecosystem using a dynamic global vegetation model, mainly involved assembling and processing historical eddy covariance flux tower
and remote sensing data to both test and validate LPJ-GUESS.<o:p></o:p></p>
