are the outcome of evolution and adaptation. I will first review the processes playing a role in speciation before presenting our research. </span><span style="caret-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: -webkit-standard; font-size: medium;"><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">To
understand why there are so many species of Erica, I investigate together with others, the speciation and diversification processes of the genus. We found that increases in speciation rate seem to be related with rare long-distance dispersal to ecological

for my research is to understand what drives speciation and how biodiversity is maintained, with a focus on the roles of spatial, historical and ecological processes. Currently I am a Postdoctoral Fellow in the McTavish lab (UC </span><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Merced)
where I program a tool to automatically update phylogenies. Before coming here, I received my doctoral degree at the University of Mainz - Germany, where I investigated the evolution and biogeography of the large genus Senecio.</span></span><br>
