Hello all,

We are happy to kick off the new semester. Enviro-Lunch will be held in a
hybrid format (in person or zoom) *every Monday 12- 1 pm*. We invited Dr.
Hannah Palmer, a UC Merced Chancellor's Postdoctoral Fellow 2021-2022, as
our first speaker. We hope you find her topic interesting and join us at *SE2
#224 on Sep 13th between 12-1 pm (PST).*

*Title:* Ocean and climate change in the Northeast Pacific through the
Holocene

*Abstract:* Broadly, I seek to leverage the paleorecord to understand
biogeochemical and ecosystem change across systems and timescales. In this
talk, I will discuss the results of my dissertation work focused on
investigating marine sediment records to understand oxygenation change over
time and linked marine-terrestrial climate change through the Holocene, and
I will introduce my work at UC Merced investigating geochemical signatures
of wildfire.

*Bio:* Hannah is currently a UC Merced Chancellor's Postdoctoral Fellow
working with Asmeret Asefaw Berhe and Sora Kim in the Life and
Environmental Sciences Department. She recently completed her PhD in Earth
and Planetary Sciences at UC Davis where she worked with Tessa Hill in the
Ocean and Climate Lab and Bodega Marine Laboratory.

Sincerely,

co-host: KJ Min, Manisha Dolui, Toshiyuki Bandai, Jennifer Alvarez

faculty coordinator: Asmeret Asefaw Berhe
