You may be hearing from your units (if they signed up for the Experian Credit Monitoring) that they are getting notifications that their SSN was exposed on the dark web. A lot of employees seem to have gotten them over the last two days.</div>

The campus Information Security Office has put together a <a href="https://security.berkeley.edu/education-awareness/identity-theft-resources#SSN" target="_blank" data-ogsc="" style="color: blue;" class="">set of steps you can take to secure your SSN</a>. The
focus of this is to monitor your accounts closely and put a freeze or alert on your credit. IF someone uses your SSN, then you can report it to the authorities and we have information on that too on our site. </div>
